…but it was SO worth it!
For a small, grassroots non-profit it can be very difficult to ‘break through’ to established local funders. Those funders often have commitments to other organizations and are facing shrinking contributions themselves.
That was the case for a local non-profit. After 15 successful years, we wanted to target a major local funder, seeking an invitation to their next Request for Proposal (RFP).
The whole process took time and persistence. An invitation to the non-profit’s fundraiser. A meeting with the funder’s senior Programs officer. Introductions and visits to the non-profit’s programs and select participants.
And finally! an RFP.
It was a small RFP with a narrow scope. But becoming a winner and successfully carrying out the program would mean more invitations and more RFPs.
So we worked overtime to design a winning proposal with an effective program. It was small and specific – and our client partners were excited to participate.
And… happy dance! The small grassroots non-profit WON – they became one of only four winners of the RFP. And the door to the future partnership with that big important funder is open.
